Every year, the campground where we attend church has a Christian Celebration weekend. The owners are Christians, and they try to reach out to the campers in various ways the entire year, but this week/weekend includes VBS, a concert by a Christian musician, fun and games, and some praise and worship time.
This year, volleyball was on the schedule, and we even had an international game--the Germans vs. the Americans. The Germans didn't have enough players, so Jordan was an adopted German for the afternoon. By the way, the American team won. The American team Jamie and Jason both dove for the ball that Jess hit, but I don't think either one of them managed to get it across the net.The guys just can't seem to stay off the ground! What a sacrifice for the team!
Our pastor, John Kalebaugh My brother is quite the player; I especially like watching him serve the ball.
Jamie is just about to set this one up for Jason to spike.
We gathered in one big group for a cookout around a campfire. Praying before the yummy meal! Hiram is definitely all boy! He loves machinery of any kind. He was ready to take Jason's truck for a ride. After supper we headed into the big barn for hymn singing and praise and worship. Just in case you were wondering, the trees and snowflakes in the background are from VBS. The theme this year was Narnia, so they recreated the forest and the lantern.
By the time I was able to take this picture, many people had left, but I'm guessing we had at least 60 people there that night.
As we were sitting around later, we made Jason a double decker rice krispy sandwich with a Hershey's bar in the middle. It was a good 4 inches tall, and we were all amazed that he could fit his mouth around it!
Pastor John had to try it too.
This picture is from the next day when they were cleaning up the VBS set in the barn, but I had to include it. Even Jason wasn't tall enough to reach the snowflakes tossed over the rafters; he had to put Melody on his shoulders and stand on a chair!

What a fun time! I love volleyball! I'm not any good, I just like to feel sand in my toes and make occasional contact with the ball. ;-) I love the "snowflake retrieval" picture.
