Blueberries!

Last Friday, the Johnson girls invited us to go blueberry picking.
We met at their house and then rode to the farm together.
Kaitlyn J., Becca J., and Amber M.
Some of the bushes were so big the branches were obstructing the path.
We had to walk hunched over until we reached our designated picking spot.

Martha liked to fill a small container and then dump it into the big bucket the farm provided.

The blueberries were delicious! Of course we had to sample some as we picked! Mrs. Johnson helped us all by pulling the tops of the bushes down and holding them while we picked off the berries.
The farm was huge. There were rows and rows and rows of bushes!
It was very humid that day as you can see from the haze in this picture.

We were glad the sun wasn't out much because we were hot enough as it was.We decided not to wait for the truck to come back and pick us up, but it wasn't too far of a walk back to the car. The Johnsons had already picked berries a few weeks earlier, so they shared what they picked that day with the rest of us.
We came home with 18 pounds of berries! When we got back to the Johnson's house, some of the girls had to hold the new kittens.
Mel and Amber were quite content to sit under the umbrella and cuddle them. Some of us jumped in the pool to cool off, but we didn't do much swimming.

We mostly just relaxed and talked!

While we were doing that, Matt and Mr. Johnson were cleaning off the combine. Hmm...somehow I think we got the better end of the deal. ;-)

It was a fun day spent with friends!

Looks like a warm day to pick blueberries! But it was worth it to me. The blueberries you brought us were yummy!

P.S. I just finished the last of them this morning!
